A: Absolutely! Up to two guests, over the age of 12, are welcomed to accompany you! Unfortunately, children are not permitted at this time.

A: Yes, prior to your ultrasound we require that you have been given an established due date (EDD) by your Clinician, verified with cardiac activity. That means the doctor has either heard the heartbeat with a hand held doppler or it was visualized during a 1st trimester ultrasound. Please reach out to us for assistance finding a place to have your initial  Dating/Viability ultrasound.

A: About 45 minutes. Scan time is 20 - 30 minutes depending on how far along you are and if baby is in a good position or not.  

A: Just let us know! We will keep it a secret during your scan, and send you home with a sealed envelope with your Boy/Girl results.

A:  We will recommend a time frame, specifically for you, when you reach out to us. Occasionally,  baby is just not ready to show us.  If that is the case we just have to try again. For accuracy, the earliest we recommend trying with ultrasound is at 15 weeks, and 19 weeks for a BMI of 30 or greater. Ultrasound is never 100%. However, if baby gives us a good view, it is highly accurate.

A: Hopefully! Clarity is really up to mom and baby.  Rest assured, the Sonographer is capable, and is using the same, top of the line, ultrasound machine used to obtain the images advertised. 

A: Mainly, 

1. Moms’ BMI (body mass index) You will need to know your height and weight to calculate. Less than 30 is likely to have superior image quality than over 30 BMI. The higher the BMI the further the sound waves need to travel, leading to less resolution.    
2. Fetal position. For example, if baby is breech and facing your back, or there is not fluid space between the placenta/uterus and baby, we may not be able to see their face very well. Don’t worry though, we have time to have you change positions and will try hard to encourage baby to move into a better spot. Remember, we always put safety first, if baby is just not showing us, we have to respect that. We won’t cut your time short, will use the rest of the time to look at whatever else baby wants to show us, like a hand or foot!
3. Amniotic fluid amount. Sound waves LOVE water. The more fluid surrounding the baby the more likely we will be able to obtain quality images. 

A: We believe all phases of your babies development are really neat to see in real-time with ultrasound! That being said, If you are mostly wanting the later 3rd trimester, when baby is more developed and looks closer to how they will look at birth, you want to book around 28-34 weeks. The closer to birth, the more chub on those cute cheeks, the tricky and unpredictable part is that they start running out of space (larger, empty pockets of amniotic fluid) the 3D requires this pocket to render an image, as well as the ability to see baby in a “profile” position. We will scan at all angles possible to achieve this, but if baby is 100% facing mom’s back, It may not be possible.

A: In the 1st and 2nd Trimesters, 3D clarity may be a little limited, however you get an opportunity to see your whole baby! The most movement occurs during this time, and baby has a bit more room which leads to a more “whole” view. Face details in 3D are limited, the classic 2D profile image (most requested) is best seen at this time.
In the 3rd Trimester, so long as you have ample amniotic fluid and baby is not 100% facing your back, you should expect to see a partial view of baby’s face.  It is typical, and likely a portion of the face will be obscured by an arm, leg or the cord, the later you come in.
The images demonstrated in our gallery are a handful of some of our best images, with ideal circumstances. (Position, ample fluid, mom’s size)

A: You DO NOT need a full bladder for this ultrasound. It is highly recommended to be well hydrated. This is the most effective the sooner you begin, weeks in advance of your appointment if possible.

A: Unfortunately, no. Only the Sonographer can invite you back for an ultrasound free of charge. This is not very common, typically reserved for things like the baby didn’t want to show gender.

A: We have found, while some family’s reaction to seeing the ultrasound is over the moon with excitement, with an image, in our view, that is considered suboptimal, another family’s reaction is unimpressed with a near perfect view.  Regardless, we strive to obtain the very best images for you no matter what. We hope you love your ultrasound experience and your precious pictures!

A: These are diagnostic questions that we will not be discussing at this ultrasound. Your Clinician has specific timing for checking on your baby’s growth as well as the appropriate time to evaluate your baby’s anatomy.
Verifying the health/anatomy of your baby is an extensive look during a screening ultrasound. It involves not just an ultrasound, but a team that includes your Dr./midwife, blood work, clinical exam etc.
Ultrasounds performed at Mi Amór, are not interpreted by or shared with your Clinician, they are simply to capture keepsake images for you in a non diagnostic setting.

A: Absolutely! One of the most reassuring sounds to hear! Anytime after the 1st trimester, 15 weeks and above, we can listen to your baby’s heartbeat briefly, if you would like us to record it for you, ask us about our   “My Baby’s Heartbeat” stuffed animals available for purchase. They are loved and can be proudly displayed in your nursery to cherish forever!

A: Great! Twins are twice the fun! Please let us know ahead of time at the time of your booking so we allow adequate time. There is a $50 fee for each additional little one. 

A: Please wear loose clothing that you can easily pull down to your hips.

We take great care to keep our Studio clean for you and your family to feel comfortable. This is especially important because we perform Gender DNA testing that can easily become contaminated.

Everyone in your party will be asked to remove their shoes. It’s best to wear easy-on/off shoes and bring a pair of socks for comfort. Please let your party know so they can be prepared.
We’ll walk you back to the Studio and get you and your party comfortably seated.
Now it’s time to meet the little one! How exciting! Depending on how far along you are and the exam difficulty, the time will usually be between 20 and 30 minutes. It’s usually around 45 minutes from the start of your appointment time. When we’re all done, we’ll send you a link to view all your photos and video clips. We’ll also send you home with a strip of printed ultrasound photos. If you want to duplicate any of your favorite images, you can take them to any drug store, like CVS, and upload them for print! They’re all yours!
